Yvan Ruppé Born in 1921 in Bordeaux, France.
Enlisted in the French Navy in April 1939. He ended up in England via a detour and reported there at the headquarters of the French FNFL. (Forces Naval France Libre) Voluntarily he went to Scotland to join the French commandos commanded by Philippe Kieffer. In June 1944 they landed first on the French coast. After a short break In October, No4 commando was ordered to land on the island of Walcheren. Ruppé landed together with the French trope in Vlissingen. After fierce street fighting, he died of his injuries after defending an important intersection in Vlissingen. Ruppé is buried in the French field of honor in Kapelle.
